Below are the most frequently asked questions that we hear from our new clients. We’ve tried to be as helpful as possible in the answers we have given. However, if anything is unclear, we’re always happy to answer your specific questions individually.
We are an independent boutique practice and not a chain. We opened in 1990. Originally, we were across the road, we then grew and needed a larger optical showroom. So, in 1999, we moved location to where we are now. Expect to receive our full attention when you choose us, for us a client is never a number!
See pictures of our optical showroom here.
As an Independent Private Practice, we have full control over the services we provide, the products we love using and how we want to conduct our eye care business. This means we can offer the best service, have one-hour appointment slots, fully comprehensive eye examinations, have the time to listen to you & your needs, and provide the best quality niche frames, lenses, contact lenses and sunglasses. We are a family business and our sole interest rests in looking after you & your eyes and making you feel great in your eyewear.

We want to cover all aspects of your eye health and understand your visual needs. For us, you are not seen as a number. If you want an eye test that is detailed, tailored to you and incorporates every possible check to ensure your eyes are healthy, then we are the right opticians for you.
We have the latest technology and equipment. We always update our equipment regularly and upgrade our technology when available. Most of the equipment we use is the same as top eye hospitals and private hospital eye clinics.
Bring a list of any medication you take, all your glasses & sunglasses, your previous prescription if are a new client, details of any eye conditions or eye complications you may have had in the past and your lovely self.
Please bring any reading materials, digital appliances, phones, and anything else you require a specific vision for. The more information we have about what your eyes do and need, the more tailored your experience will be.
If you ride a motorbike; please bring your motorcycle helmet with you, so we can find the right frame to fit under your safety gear.
Our vision is that each of our clients receives world-class eye care, which we passionately believe they deserve. We are proud of our reputation for providing thorough eye examinations using the latest technology as well as offering tailored advice and recommendations. It has however become increasingly clear that our vision of reassuringly thorough eye care is not compatible with the NHS-funded (free) sight test. For some years we offered enhanced upgraded eye tests to all our NHS clients, as we never felt the NHS test offered a high enough quality of eye care. We have always wanted to offer the best level of care to all our clients; given that we have the skills and technology to do better. As of April 2022, due to the reasons above, we chose to no longer claim from the NHS and do not offer NHS eye tests.
Most of our clients join our eyecare plan which includes your eye examinations whenever you need them, all emergency appointments, all scans imaging and peripheral vision checks and you also get an unlimited 10% off on any purchases.
A pay-per-visit option is available for anyone that does not want to join our eyecare plan, see fees above.

Yes, of course! You can join immediately without any upfront costs.
We no longer offer the Free NHS Sight Test, which only provides a basic level of clinical care and time, something we no longer feel comfortable offering. In the past, many of our NHS clients would upgrade their eye tests to include scans etc. We now offer all our clients our most advanced eye examination which includes all scans, tests, and screenings, enabling you to receive the best clinical care without comprise or restriction.
Many eye conditions are painless and can go completely unnoticed, the eye examination we now provide ensures that everything is checked and gives you peace of mind that all areas of your eye care are examined in detail. A basic eye test without all the extra checks, in our expert opinion, is not the best way to take care of your vision, eyes, and eye health. We don’t feel comfortable offering a basic eye examination and therefore we have included all checks, scans, and screenings as our gold standard to ensure that your eyes are healthy. Our advanced eye examination is available to everyone that wishes to see us.
The eyecare plan covers all and any type of appointment you need without having to pay anything extra for each visit. For example, if you had an eye examination in March but had a concern with your eyes in June and we had to repeat a scan a few months later; it would be all covered by your £9/monthly plan, as it covers ALL your appointments. It’s a more cost-effective way to take care of your eyes, vision, and eye health. You also get an unlimited 10% off all purchases. If you were not on the eyecare plan, you would have to pay for each visit, an eye exam of £120, an EMG appt for £60, and a £60 repeat scan, which would cost more than our monthly eye care plan. The eyecare plan covers every type of appointment or visit and you don’t have to pay anything extra when you need to see us.
Yes, absolutely. The eyecare plan provides the best value for money but if you prefer to pay per visit, that’s no problem at all.
1. We are here whenever you need us. 2. Your visits to us are unlimited. 3. You can cancel anytime, though we hope you don’t as we always strive to provide the best eyecare and niche eyewear. 4. If you cancel and then wish to re-join, our normal pay-as-you-go fee will apply before we re-join you to the eyecare plan.
When you walk into almost any optician you are overwhelmed by an array of frames all presented together on frame bars on the walls. This can be mind-boggling when 90% off them won’t be right for you and it’s very confusing, just where do you start? We have hundreds of frames in stock but choose to display just a small sample of our collections, to give you a taste, and a flavour of the eyewear we have available.
We prefer to get to know our clients first, to fully understand who you are and what you’re looking for from your eyewear. We also like to know more about your style personality, your natural colour profile and look at your facial features before we create a collection for you to look at. Our team of experts can then use that information to guide you through the process of choosing new glasses and hand-picking a collection of frames that we feel will be perfectly suited to you!
This helps to remove the frustrations and hassles experienced by so many glasses wearers faced with the “self-selection” process provided by most other opticians. We welcome browsers, and our team are happy to show you our collections in our Eyewear and Sunglasses Galleries, but so that you can maximise your time with us and benefit from a truly personal service we would recommend that you book an initial, no-obligation Eyewear Styling Consultation
All our eyewear collections are niche or handmade. Not that we have anything against “designer labels” as such, we just choose not to work with companies that supply mass produced frames, place designer stamps/logos on them and suffer from the disadvantages this mass production brings with it.
Unlike, many opticians, either the High Street chains or other independent opticians, we personally source and hand-pick our frames. Every year we travel to exciting cities such as Paris, Munich, Milan, Antwerp and Copenhagen to source the world’s finest eyewear. We work with small, independent artisanal designers and manufacturers who design eyewear with the individual in mind. They cater for the person who wants something different, something truly unique, stylish, elegant but above all something original.
If you’re looking for glasses that are different, individual and of a higher quality than what you see in the chains and High Street opticians then you’ll love the collection we have in stock. Many of the collections we work with are only available in a handful of opticians in the UK. So, you really get to see frames that are different from what’s on offer in most places.
But if the designer brand label on the side of your glasses is important to you that’s fine. We’ll be as helpful as possible and will be happy to direct you to the nearest optician who stocks this type of eyewear.
The eyewear styling is all about you and getting the styling support you deserve from a professionally trained eyewear stylist when you are choosing new glasses. Your eyewear sits centre stage and should always reflect your unique style & personality. Rather than sifting through a thousand frames and hoping you will find the correct pair, we guide you through a process to find the perfect pair of glasses that you will cherish and enjoy wearing.
This is where we discover your needs, lifestyle, and likes/dislikes in eyewear, followed by an in-depth style personality, natural colour profile and facial features analysis. With this guided process we can style you with eyewear pieces that will fit, find the shape & styles that enhance your gorgeous features, complement your natural colour profile, and make you feel great. This is the most exciting part of your eyewear journey where you get to try on styles that you may not have thought of and most importantly find eyewear that you feel your best in.
Absolutely, we offer interest-free payments for your glasses over 3 to 10 months.
The most common type of contact lens is soft Contact Lenses. They are available in most prescriptions and come in daily, 2 weekly, monthly and yearly options. The other type of contact lens is a hard contact lens/RGP; these are usually used for patients with a complex prescription or someone who has always preferred wearing them. Most of our clients wear soft daily contact lenses, which you wear for the day and discard at the end of the day. It is the most convenient and hygienic type of contact lens.
Mostly everyone including children. Contact Lenses have advanced hugely. Most prescriptions can be accommodated in contact lenses, including single vision, multifocal, astigmatism, and many more. If you would like to try or enquire about contact lenses, please give us a call on 020 8524 2887 and the team will be at your service.
Yes absolutely. Mac (Rasik) specialises in hard/RGP contact lenses, it's one of his passions.
They are two separate tests. You can have an eye test and contact lens done on the same day or on different days, but they are two different types of examinations. An eye test checks the prescription for your glasses, your vision through glasses, and the general health of the eyes. Contact lenses check; checks the fit, vision, movement, and compatibility of contact lenses on the eyes. We also check the health of the anterior eye. Contact lenses sit on the eyeball and glasses sit away from the eyes; therefore, the tests are completely different from each other.
A contact lens check can only be done if your eye test is in date. By law, if your eye test is out of date you will have to have an eye test first.
